the FUN RAZOR
anti-campaign fundraiser campaign
If you believe that
the people we elect
to represent us
should serve us,
not whoever cut them the biggest check,
you’re in the right place.
We’re in the Powell Era
In 1971, corporate lawyer Lewis F. Powell
wrote a confidential memo to the United States
Chamber of Commerce that rallied businesses
to organize, fund think tanks, and
become aggressively politically active.
They did. And never looked back.
Two months later he was nominated to the
Supreme Court where he would go on to write
the majority opinion that gave corporations
first amendment rights.
Now here’s the scary part
that no one in politics says out loud.
THEY CAN’T STOP.
The legal obligation of fiduciary duty
combined with the mechanism of
campaign donations,
keeps both the investment
and the animosity compounding
on auto-pilot, no matter who wins.
